Gnostaria

Major developments have been under way in the world of Gnostaria. The past two months have been a whirlwind of activity in preparation for presentations at GC2008. One of our partners, 3DGDA, travelled to GC2008 in Leipzig, Germany over the past week to pitch their services as well as present Gnostaria to several interested parties. The response so far has been positive and many future deals, discussions and demos are being worked on by the Gnostaria team and our partners.

The Gnostaria code base has been merged into the latest TGEA 1.7.1 engine by Garage Games. Several new screenshots are in the Screenshots gallery demonstrating some of the new enhancements, including significantly improved foliage "ground cover", improved terrain quality and more!

After receiving recent reports that the the verification email was not being received by some people we did a complete audit on our email system and fixed a few issues. Unfortunately Hotmail still completely deletes all incoming emails from us (it doesn't put them into the junk folder and doesn't allow the emails even if you add webmaster@gnostaria.com as one of your personal contacts). Yahoo presently puts the emails into the spam folder but if you right click and mark "Not Spam" future emails from gnostaria.com appear to correctly go into the in box.

Progress on Gnostaria has been moving along despite the lack of public updates. One major milestone of significant importance is the completion of the massive animation project. Over 400 character animations, including movement, attacks, defenses, emotes, opening doors / picking up items / dropping items, death, swimming, sitting and standing and more have been completed and are ready for the game. Both the male and female character models have full support for all animation sequences, and each model has UNIQUE gender-specific animations based on anatomically correct bone structure.

Several Gnostaria videos are now available on Youtube! Featuring both in-game footage and videos from the development tools you will see demonstrations of a variety of features from battle animations to character customization.

Over the past week, after transfering to the new host, we had some problems with the website. Anyone who attempted to create a new account during this period will have to do so again. Also users who requested their passwords can do so now to reset your password automatically.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while we resolved these issues!

We are getting a high powered dedicated server setup in a data center this week to host the website, forums, file downloads and the Gnostaria alpha servers.

We will try to make the downtime as limited as possible but the sites and servers may be down for up to 2 or 3 days. In the best case scenario, downtime will be limited to only 2-4 hours.

The Gnostaria Alpha 1.0 test server is now online and registered testers have been given access to the game client and game world!

A ton of progress has been made over the past several months. We recently changed which rendering engine we were using and now take advantage of many DirectX 9 features including shaders and normal maps. Slowly but steadily artwork and other content have been streaming in and being integrated.

Another major development has been the overhaul of the GUI system. We recently created custom skins for many GUI elements and made nearly everything that displays information for a player moveable and in some cases resizable. Players can customize their screen layouts however they want.

We have finally finished migrating all of our domains and web sites to our new web host and resolved all of the account creation and management issues. New users can create an account by clicking the "Create Account" link on the right side of the screen or by clicking here.

Existing users who have a problem logging in can use the "request a new password" link to have their password reset and a recovery email sent their their registered email address.
